Service terms

Clear scope, ownership and responsibilities before work begins. Last updated 13 September 2026.

1. Who you are working with

BriefMade is a trading name of John Bruce Consulting Ltd, company number 17450810, registered in England and Wales. These service terms explain the basis on which projects are proposed. The company’s full details and the applicable contract are provided with your written order.

Browsing or downloading a draft does not place an order. Submitting a quote request asks us to assess your project. Choosing the standard website scope and paying places an order for that stated scope under these terms, subject to our review and start-date confirmation. If we cannot fulfil the standard scope, you may decline a revised quote and receive a refund of the unstarted work. The separate Project payments page remains for amounts due under existing quotes.

2. Deliverables and changes

Quick Launch covers one responsive page of one to three sections using an existing template, supplied approved words and brand assets, one existing contact action, one consolidated revision and source handover. Landing Page Sprint covers one responsive page of up to six sections, adaptation to supplied approved content and branding, one existing contact action, one consolidated revision and source handover.

Copywriting, a CMS, live checkout, form processing, bookings, account systems, migrations and other integrations are included only if expressly scoped. Sample interactions demonstrate designs; they are not connected customer services. Additional work or changes outside the written scope require an agreed price and timing before proceeding.

3. Timing and approval

For Landing Page Sprint, the 48-hour first-draft period begins at the start time agreed in writing, after scope approval, the initial payment and receipt of all required content and assets. It is a first-draft commitment, not a promise of final launch in 48 hours. Availability, feedback, revisions, supplier activation and domain changes may affect the final launch date. Other packages have individually agreed dates.

You review the work against the scope and provide one consolidated revision list. Acceptance is based on the agreed deliverables, not assumed from silence. The Sprint includes seven days after handover for reporting agreed-scope defects for correction; this does not shorten or remove any rights that apply by law.

4. Prices and payment

Quick Launch is £249 and Landing Page Sprint is £495 for the stated website-only scope. Displayed build and setup prices are totals including any applicable VAT. The quote and invoice show the relevant tax treatment. Sprint payment is £247.50 when ordering the stated standard scope or approving a written quote, and £247.50 on acceptance before source handover. Payment stages for other work are stated in the quote.

Complete Launch and Custom Project are individually quoted. The quote separates build and setup, provider services, initial subscription periods, renewal costs and billing responsibilities. Any agreed new domain, hosting or mailbox service included in Complete Launch covers the stated first 12 months; later renewal is separate unless explicitly agreed otherwise. Existing supplier subscriptions remain your responsibility. No service is bought without your approval.

For an agreed Quick Launch, pay £249 when your written quote says it is due. Our project payment page also provides the two £247.50 Sprint stages. Complete Launch, Custom Project and extras use an individual payment link matching the written quote. Check the item, amount and project reference before paying. These are one-off payments, not subscriptions.

Stripe hosts the checkout and processes the payment. You provide your name, email, quote or invoice reference and the payment details Stripe requires. A receipt is sent after successful payment. We check the payment against the agreed project before confirming the next step; a receipt does not change the written scope or delivery date. Contact us through your project conversation about a duplicate, incorrect or unrecognised payment. Refunds and cancellations remain subject to section 7 and your statutory rights.

5. Domains, hosting and email

The £99 domain setup option covers three suggestions, one available standard domain with first-year registration cost up to £20, and connection to agreed hosting. Higher-priced and premium domains require a separate quote. You approve the name and are named as registrant; domain registration does not establish trademark rights. We do not guarantee continued availability before registration.

The £49 email setup option covers one mailbox on an agreed provider, supported domain and authentication records, send-and-receive testing and handover. Mailbox subscriptions, extra mailboxes and message migration are separate. Keeping existing services depends on compatibility and authorised access.

Hosting is required for a live site. Website-only prices do not include it or publishing setup. Third-party services have their own terms, availability and renewal rules. We identify the provider, account owner and billing responsibility in writing. Ongoing maintenance, future edits and out-of-hours support are included only if expressly agreed. We remain responsible for our own contracted setup work.

6. Content, source files and ownership

You retain ownership of supplied materials and confirm you have permission to use them. You are responsible for approving the accuracy of business claims, prices and legally required content. BriefMade uses AI-assisted design and development, with review and browser checks. Agree confidentiality and AI-use restrictions before supplying restricted material.

After full payment, you receive the commissioned website source files and the rights stated in your written order to use, modify and, where agreed, resell the delivered work. Third-party assets and reusable components remain subject to their licences; any restrictions must be identified in the handover. Domain registrant ownership and account access are handled as agreed with you.

7. Cancellation, refunds and statutory rights

Tell us promptly if you need to cancel or pause. For business contracts, any amount retained must reflect the agreed contract, work properly completed and approved non-recoverable supplier costs, rather than an automatic “no refunds” rule. Unearned prepaid amounts are returned where due. If we cannot deliver the agreed work, appropriate correction, cancellation and refund arrangements are discussed in line with the contract and applicable law.

If you contract as a consumer, mandatory consumer rights apply. For a qualifying distance service contract, this normally includes a 14-day cancellation period. Starting during that period requires your express request; a lawful proportionate charge may be payable for work performed before cancellation. Loss of the cancellation right after full performance requires the acknowledgements required by law. None of those permissions is inferred from using this planner, paying, or accepting the general service terms at checkout. An early-start request is made separately using the optional checkbox and recorded with your submitted brief, or agreed separately in writing. Defective-service remedies and other statutory rights are unaffected.

8. Responsibility and limitations

We perform the agreed service with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise particular sales, earnings, visitor numbers, search rankings or conversion rates. Delivery of a website is separate from a marketing or ongoing operations service.

Any project-specific limitation of liability must be stated clearly in the written contract and be fair, reasonable and lawful in the circumstances. These pages do not impose a blanket financial cap or exclude liability for our own work. Nothing excludes or restricts liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

9. Questions and disputes

Raise concerns through the contact channel in your project correspondence so we can review them and seek a practical resolution. Applicable governing law and dispute arrangements are confirmed in the written contract, subject to any mandatory rights you have. See Contact and Privacy.

Direct website orders and separately approved extras

The direct checkout orders only the stated Quick Launch website build (£249) or the initial half of the £495 Sprint (£247.50, with £247.50 due on acceptance before handover). It is for the published standard scope using your ready-to-share content. We review your brief before work begins and confirm the start date. If we cannot deliver it within that scope, we will explain the alternatives; you may decline and receive a refund of the unstarted website work. We do not apply a higher price without agreement.

New domain registration, domain setup, mailbox setup, hosting and subscriptions are not included in that direct website payment. Domain setup costs £99 including one standard first-year registration up to £20. If that registration costs more than £20, the difference is added and disclosed for approval. Premium/resale domains are individually quoted. We confirm the exact name, availability, first-year price, renewal price and ownership details before you authorise purchase. Availability can change until registration completes. If the agreed registration fails, any domain payment will be refunded or applied to an alternative only with your approval. Domains are registered for the customer, with ownership and access arranged for them.

Our setup fees, supplier registration fees, subscriptions and website work are itemised separately. Supplier refund restrictions do not remove statutory rights or make the whole website package non-refundable. Email subscriptions are continuing services; activation does not mean a year’s service has been fully performed.

Consumers normally have 14 days from the service contract to cancel. We start within this period only at your express request. If you cancel after such a request, you may owe a proportionate amount for services actually supplied, provided the required information was given. The cancellation right is lost only after full performance with your prior request and acknowledgement. The optional early-start choice concerns the website service only. Domains and subscriptions require separate approval and applicable cancellation information. You can cancel by a clear statement emailed to info@briefmade.online, identifying your name, project and order date. Your rights for faulty or misdescribed services remain.
